Welcome to the US Olympians Paralympians Southwest Chapter.

We had a great time at the Dorothy Franey Langkop golf tournament!  Here is the video of this year's fun.  Thank you Jimmy Langkop for taking the pictures and providing this wonderful video!

World Fit and Olympic Day were a great success for 2013!  Thanks to Clint Walker we have a video that encompasses our efforts.  Congratulations to Cary Middle School for being the #1 school in the nation!

See our World Fit news for the videos.

Congratulations goes out to Michelle Carter for her American record in Women's Shot Put at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships!  Michelle's throw of 66 feet, 5 inches resulted in her fourth national title and a trip to the World Championships in Moscow.

A group of Olympic Gold Medalists were recently honored at a luncheon hosted by the “Just Say Yes” Organization, a Christian based mentoring group that works with local high school students. The honored guests included: Pat Sapp; 2002, Earl Young; 1960, Mitch Gaylord; 1984, Ryan Berube; 1996 and Chryste Gaines, who medaled in 92, 96 and 2000. The event was held in a large private home and was attended by 300 guests, most of whom were friends of Robin Blakeley (Dallas 2024 Board of Directors) and the “Just Say Yes” Board of Directors. Those attending are familiar with our herculean efforts to bring the Olympic Games to our great city of Dallas in 2024.

2013 is a very important year with regard to our 2024 USOC bid. Matt Wood has been working tirelessly, along with board members and great friends, who hope and pray for Dallas to host the Games. We have some upcoming events that are open to the public, please feel free to pass this on to help get the word out.

The Fort Worth City Council had a very nice ceremony and recognized the U.S. Track and Field Team.  Michelle Carter, Darvis "Doc" Patton, and Jon Drummond were there to represent the team and receive their certificates.  Mitch Gaylord, Janine Bowman, Ryan Berube, Joan Hanson, and Pat Sapp were at the ceremony.  Horatio Porter, former track star and team mate of Jon Drummond at TCU also joined us for the picture.

Congratulations goes to Pat Sapp!  He is the recipient of the first annual Dorothy Franey Langkop Ambassador Award.
